Girls on the Run

Students at Girls on the Run race

Who: 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls

What: Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th grade participate in an after-school program like no other. Designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, the Girls on the Run curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 5:00 P.M. for 10 weeks in the fall and spring.

Starts: September 14, 2021

Race date: November 13th, 2021

The Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. We start with helping the girls get a better understanding of who they are and what’s important to them. Then, we look at the importance of team work and healthy relationships. And, finally, the girls explore how they can positively connect with and shape the world.

Physical activity is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. At the end of each three month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5k event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. No previous running experience is required. Coaches are our own staff members, who have been fully trained.

There is a $150 program fee, however, scholarships are available (please contact Ms. Zahn). Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5k, a finisher's medal, a GOTR water bottle, and a healthy snack at every practice.
