Art

Art is one of our specialist classes. Students in Kindergarten and grades 3, 4 and 5 receive 50 minutes of instruction one every six days (one 50-minutes class). Students in grades 1 and 2 receive 50 minutes of instruction once every four days. We believe art education is essential for teaching the whole child.

Our art curriculum is called EXPLORATIONS IN ART. There are many amazing visuals, so our students receive a wide variety of art works. This means that they experience frequent curriculum overlap between classroom learning and specialist class, which leads to deeper understandings. For example:

  • HISTORY in our examinations of ancient art, abstract modern art, etc.
  • They encounter SCIENCE in many works of art.
  • Also, the art covers ALL CULTURES and thus makes our children aware of other people in the world.

My aim is to give students a wide understanding of all art and teach them that art offers so much more than just pretty pictures.I'll keep you updated with any art shows the children are in, competitions won, and, for those who cannot get enough of art, cool classes they can attend.
