Destination Imagination

Who: 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students

What: Destination ImagiNation (DI) is a community-based, school-friendly program that builds participants' creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in enjoyable and meaningful ways..

When: Teams form in September each year and continue until eliminated

DI is the world's largest creative problem solving program for kindergarten through college-aged learners, going strong in 50 states and 40 countries. Teams of up to 7 members solve one of six different Challenges, which they perform in front of appraisers at tournaments. Our ultimate goal is to teach participants that through their creativity, teamwork, and perseverance, they can DIvelop creative solutions to complex problems completely on their own. Teams of five to seven members work together to apply creativity, critical thinking and their particular talents to solve a Team Challenge.

  • Challenge A: Technical/Mechanical
  • Challenge B: Theater Arts/Science
  • Challenge C: Theater Arts/Fine Arts
  • Challenge D: Theater Arts/Improvisation
  • Challenge E: Structural & Architectural Design

To learn more, visit the International Destination ImagiNation website.

If your child is interested, watch for information to come home in the fall. DI teams are formed at Westview in September each year. Parents are needed to be team managers at that time. The fee to join Destination ImagiNation is $50. This fee covers DI membership, materials, tournament registration and a t-shirt. Questions may be directed to Mrs. Andersen.
